Sometimes you need to update your wardrobe while living abroad. Well, my friend, let me tell you that I had done that a few times because our boys needed new socks or a pair of jeans while in Budapest. I took for granted that I knew where to get the best deals for socks or a good deal on sturdy jeans. Sometimes you want to buy a piece of clothing to remember your travels. Then this post is for you, my dear fashionistas.
Most of these shoppings malls contain a food court, coffee shop(s), and major brands and boutique clothing shops galore. (Oh, and several have indoor playground areas (for pay). You just gotta go hunt them down.) The best part about shopping in Hungary, you can find deals and sale/clearance items, which I don’t usually find when I am shopping in other parts of Europe, such as Cyprus or Greece.
Here is a list of shopping malls in Budapest:
1. ÁRKÁD
ÁRKÁD Budapest is close to IKEA and has a Gap store, which many of our college students like to go shopping there. They found good deals and walked away with clothing for the rest of the semester. This mall even has a LEGO store, as well as Mango, Marks & Spencer, New Yorker, H&M, Zara, and Rossman.
Address: Budapest, Örs vezér tere 25/A, 1106
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

2. WestEnd City Center
WestEnd City Center is touted as the largest shopping mall in Budapest. It has several floors and about 400 shops – everything from low to middle to some higher end shops. You can even find a Gap Store to get your usual socks and jeans for your kids, which is where I got an additional fall 40% off deal on clearance items. But my favorite moment was when WestEnd opened up a LEGO store. They offered a 20% off deal on opening weekend. Don’t forget to pick up a Starbuck’s coffee while shopping for a little pick me up. If you need groceries, there is a mid-size Spar in the metro underground pass.
Address: Budapest, Váci út 3, 1062
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 pm to 6:00 pm

3. Mammut Mall
Close to Szell Kalman ter, you can go to Mammut and get some shopping done and catch a movie. I vaguely remember seeing a few stores, since we stopped by after hours on a Sunday evening. The restaurants were still open, which we ate dinner in the mall. It’s very close to Millipop (Google Maps) and Millenáris Park (Google Maps), which is a huge place for kids to roam free.
Address: Lövőház utca 2-6, Budapest 1024
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 to 6:00 pm

4. Allee Mall
Our students shop here quite often since it is closer to their dorms, but I would say that Allee is a nice place to shop indoors. It has all the same store brands that you will love, such as C&A, Pull and Bear, Mango, H&M, Zara, Mark & Spencer. You will find a huge InterSPAR, which has a great selection and more deals than your smaller SPAR stores. You can get your coffee pick me up from Costa Coffee. The toy store inside recently closed down its indoor playground space, but you can enjoy a small outdoor playground next to the mall in good weather.
Address: Budapest, Október huszonharmadika u. 8-10., 1117
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

5. Budagyöngye
I would not call Budagyöngye Bevásárlóközpont a full-fledged mall, but it’s got three stories and has a few no name stores. The great thing about this mall is the convenience of getting school supplies at a toy store/office supply store, a small coffee area, and small grocery store in the basement.
Address: Budapest, Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor 121, 1026
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

6. MOM Park
MOM Park was one of the first malls we visited in Budapest. It has a toy store as well as an indoor playground area (for pay). Alexandra Bookstore has a wide selection of books and cute toys like you would see at Barnes and Noble. There is also United Colors of Benetton, C&A, French Connection, Guess, H&M and Promod. If you have a hankering for American fast food, there is a McDonald’s. Oh, and don’t forget to pick up groceries before heading home at SPAR. However, I would highly recommend skipping a meal at Wasabi. According to an expat friend, there are other better Wasabi restaurant chains in the city. SEE VISUAL TOUR HERE
Address: Alkotás utca 53, Budapest 1123
Hours of Operation: See website for details

7. Fashion Street
A fellow expat fashion blogger mentioned Fashion Street as a go-to stop for those who have an eye on fashion. You’ll find all the usual stores, such Zara, H&M, Berksha, etc. But there is also Hugo Boss, Zara Home, Bobbi Brown, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nike. This is not an indoor shopping mall, but walk the streets to check out these stores and be happy when you shop.
TRAVEL TIP: Christmas markets are already starting to pop up in Budapest. (It starts in early November, which says they are ready for tourists.)
Address: Budapest, Deák Ferenc u. 15, 1052
Hours of Operation: Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

8. Savoya Park
Savoya Park is probably too far for your city center travels around Budapest, but it’s a good place to go shopping for locals and those who live in the suburbs of Budapest. I don’t remember much, except for the amazingly huge Auchan! We ate some pretty greasy Chinese food at the mall, which charged 60 HUF for chopsticks. But the best deal was when I saw these cute little Star Wars stuffed plush characters. In fact, I saw the exact same toy at a souvenir at WestEnd for three times the price of one at Auchan.
Address: Budapest, Hunyadi János út 19, 1117
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 8:30 pm, Sunday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
