Chicago During COVID-19

by Traveling Seouls

I’m trying to clean up the 1000’s of images on my phone. Of course, this means you can see the street photos of Chicago during the start of COVID til now.

Start of COVID Restricted Lock Downs

As the start of COVID, we walked around Millennium Park for a bit. It was a strange feeling to the see untouched. This was the best I could do snapping a photo of the Bean between two barricades.

We let the boys run along the lakeshore. It looked like others were doing the same. Someone also wrote a note of encouragement with chalk. And then there were too many people who decided to do the same… So Mayor Lighfoot shut down access to the lakeshore in order to protect people from the spread of COVID.

Middle of COVID

We decided to go to the Korean grocery store too pick up a few things. The HMart in downtown Chicago is small but closer to us. However, we struggled too find a way to get there. Eventually, we made it.

End of COVID?

Let’s see. It’s July 10, 2021. There’s the new Delta variant that has been spreading. Maybe even a Delta+? Our friends overseas aren’t quite out of the woods yet to include a friend and his family in India. And yet, state officials here are allowing those who are vaccinated to wear a mask if they so choose. Those who are not vaccinated will need to continue to wear a mask. It’s all on the honor code system, and any little ones out there still wear their masks. It’s just a weird time still…..
