Piano Man won a gift certificate to Soloneion Book Centre (aka spelled as Solonion Book Centre). It was such a surprise when he wrote an elaborate fictional story, so much that it impressed the other teachers during a school-wide story week event.
Inside Soloneion Book Centre
Thanks to Piano Man’s prize, we found another hidden gem in Cyprus – a brick and mortar bookstore that sold books in English. We had already gotten used to a lack of Barnes and Noble in Cyprus and a small school library. It was such a joy walking through and perusing new books, old books that the boys had read and new books that looked promising to read.
Like any good bookstore, they sold little knick knacks that tempted the boys to no end.
But I was glued to board books and short story books for the kids.
Prof noticed a nice collection of travel books front and center in the store. These would have been helpful to buy in Cyprus. We ended up buying many of our travel books online and shipped to our apartment. But if you know anything about shipping to Cyprus, it’s not cheap and it can get lost in transit.
I believe Piano Man picked out a puzzle to take home and a science book about the solar system.
There was a small table with coloring and papers to hang out for awhile. I really thought we should come back and visit the store again.
Too bad that we found about about Solonion Book Centre in the last month of our stay. It would have ben nice to come and visit all throughout the year.
