As I try to remember some experiences back in our East Coast days, I remember going to see a basketball game in New York and a New York Giants game in New Jersey.
Brooklyn Nets Game (11/1/2019)
The basketball game was at the request of the older one, who wanted to catch a game for his birthday. He’d really gotten into basketball thanks to friends in school. The little one was more interested in the popcorn and snacks than the game. But at least, we made it through 3/4 of the game before heading home.
The highlight may have been buying $5 a piece donuts at a specialty shop in Brooklyn. They may have been more fancy than what we were used to, but it was a nice treat at the end of the evening.
New York Giants Game (12/19/2019)
Thanks to a friend who could not attend the game, she gave us four tickets to see a New York Giants game! It was such a treat to go to an actual NFL game for free! I had gone once before with a friend to see the Washington Redskins, but I didn’t know was playing or what was going on. But the environment was full of excitement and fanfare.
The day of the New York Giants game was chilly. Well, that was putting it nicely. I was smart to bring a blanket from the car, but the kids were still shivering. We got hot chocolate to warm them up, but the heat dissipated within minutes. I think we stayed until about halftime before calling it quits. I think Prof enjoyed as much as he could with three people who wished to head to the car for some relief from the wind and cold.
It was one of the few experiences that we would have before our move to Chicago.
