ORIGINAL TRAVEL DATES: 11/24/2018 to 11/25/2018
We spent a lovely Thanksgiving holiday at our Aunty and Uncle’s house near the Berkshires. We had some time to travel back to New Jersey, so we made a pitstop in Boston, Massachusetts. The kids and I had never been to Boston before, so it was a new experience for the three of us. Prof had visited for a conference, so I don’t know how much of Boston he actually saw years ago.

Battleship Cove Naval Ship Museum
We arrived in good time right before sunset. As we walked around, Prof pointed out a large ship docked, which is now the Battleship Cove Naval Ship Museum. The kids had been on one too many ships before, Battleship Texas in Houston and the William G. Mather Steamship in Cleveland. I vaguely remember the older one saying something to the effect that he was good. “If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.”
Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum
The next day, we visit where the Boston Tea Party occurred at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. While the Battleship Cove Naval Ship Museum was more of a “modern” museum, the older one wanted to see this historical ship and museum. Once you enter, they sit you down for a little introduction.
Tour guides dress in costume and give you a rundown of what was happening in time throughout the tour.
They give you a quill to take home, which is a cute little souvenir.
The whole tour inside was neat, filled withh artifacts and tidbits of American history, but the best part was when kids (and adults) can throw a box of tea overboard. I think the little man could have done that for hours.
Faneuil Hall Marketplace
We took an evening stroll at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
I can’t remember much, except for the lively street entertainment, toy shop, little eateries inside the hall, and people. We ate different things, had trouble finding a place to eat, but found a spot on an upper level.
The next day we said goodbye from our hotel view and headed home.
Next Time – Boston Children’s Museum
If you have little ones, we recommend the Boston Children’s Museum. It’s large, close to Barnes and Noble if you like books as much as we do, and you can walk around and enjoy the view. While our little one would have enjoyed the museum, the older one was getting a bit too “old” for another children’s museum. So we passed.
