Finding free green spaces in Cyprus can be a challenge in sweltering heat, but we were up for the challenge. It wasn’t too difficult to find free spaces. Rather it was a challenge finding clean, green spaces in the city. And after several weekends of traveling to different cities in Cyprus, we decided to take it easy and stay local. We visited Acropolis Park. As we drove to the park, we noticed plenty of graffiti, a couple of tossed couches, and a vacated animal park within the park.
Luckily, we found the gate to enter the park.
At first glance, it didn’t look like we were going to find a playground. Open greenery. Check. Graffiti. Check.
We found a cavernous area, which looked like an abandoned space. Abandoned animal park. Check.
But we crossed the bridge, and we found something that looked promising. Civilization.
We found this open playground during the hottest part of the day, which explains why no child was playing outside.
The kids enjoyed seeing real grass and an open playground. But as the weather was already hot in the afternoon, we needed to hydrate the kids and purchased a couple of juice boxes at the café within the park. We didn’t plan ahead, so we ended up buying the boys a cold juice box, which was perfect.
Overall, the park was a nice and open space for the kids to play. In fact, I might have seen a basketball court in the far off corner of the park.
