A few months ago, a photo friend shared with me about an exhibition of her work at the Hyde Park Art Center. She said this exhibition showcased emerging art students who recently graduated in the Chicago area. Of course, the pandemic put a damper on things, but at least I caught a bit of the show as some pieces were being taken down. Located way down from the heart of Chicago’s downtown area, it was quite a drive even for this “local.”
But I made it, and I was pleased to walk through the main exhibition space.
This was one reason why I came to see the show. This artist made cyanotypes by making his own paper with U.S. currency.
This is the other reason why I came to see the show. Beautiful work!
I even checked out another exhibition of a local Chicago artist on the second floor and a smaller gallery space for some students taking art classes in the area.
The art center is free to enter, and time permitting, I’d like to come again. See you next time, Hyde Park Art Center!
