A couple of Thursdays ago, Piano Man showed me a paper craft project that reminded me so much of my own craft project at his age. Linus grabbed it and got juice all over it, but I was able to take some photos of Piano Man’s work.
It’s one of the first pieces that I noticed his art transform from 2D into 3D form. I asked him if it was supposed to be a park? He nodded yes. Whew. I was so glad that I got it right.
What really struck me was his attention to detail in creating his artwork from construction paper using different colors and cut outs that I don’t think I would have thought of at his age. Yet, he’s able to cut the corners off his sandbox to create a nice angular shape that gives it dimension. The use of folding the yellow paper into steps works so seamlessly into his slide design. And the pool or lake? It’s cut out like a swirl to create movement. And don’t even get me started on the swings. It was spot on.
Yup. There is no way I would have been able to do that at his age. His park design blows my Apple IIe computer design out of the water. No doubt.
Who knows where his creative side will take him in his future. Only time and determination will tell.
