We were out and about in Nicosia with our friend visiting us from the States. On our way to dinner, we saw the streets looked pretty packed as Cypriots were still voting in the run off election. By the time we were done with dinner, we heard people blaring their horns in the streets and waving Greek flags (which was strange). I thought it was strange that Cypriots would wave another country’s flag, but apparently, Cypriots don’t like their flag because a Turkish-Cypriot designed the flag.
Anyway, Anastasiades won the election. The noise has diminished a bit, but I’d say it’s still noisy, kind of like hearing horns at a football (aka soccer game) without all the reckless behavior on the streets. We hope the kids can fall asleep tonight.
