On August 30th, it was time to search for an apartment. Our leasing agent took us to two properties. One was very nice with all the amenities and updates a family could ask for in a three bedroom apartment, even household items so that we don’t need to go out and buy them ourselves. But when we arrived, it was much too far for E to walk to school. The landlord thought he could pull one on us though. He said that it was about a 15-minute walk from the school. But it took us about 10-15 minutes by car. So we quickly nixed this one off the list.
The second three-bedroom apartment was about a 10-minute walk from Piano Man’s elementary school. It was an older property compared to the first one, and it looked decent but sparse. We would have to buy some household items to make this doable for the family. While some things were broken, they were fixable or livable during the 10-month stay.
Prof and I didn’t think the kids would have survived another car trip to see another rental property, so we picked this one.
It’s been a few days, and after a trip to Ikea and Super Home Center (a cross between a Wal-Mart and Lowes or for our MI residents, like a Menards), we have been able to acquire a few household goods to make it livable.

IKEA!!! Love Ikea. Such a God-send for those on a budget. I’m surprised they have one on the little ol’ island of Cyprus. Super Home Center sounds nice. We had Menards in Indiana…loved it and its cheesy midwestern vibe. “Save big money at Mednards!”
