Welcome to Traveling Seouls!

Hi! My name is Betty.

Background

I started travel writing back in 2012 when our family lived abroad on the beautiful island of Cyprus. Back then I had started travel blogging on The Seoul of Cyprus, my first introduction to blogging. We traveled all around the island – Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos. We visited the occupied territory in the north to see castles, archaeological sites, and gorgeous beaches. We lived as expats, getting to know other expats (even Koreans living on the island!) and Cypriots. The older one started elementary school, and we got to meet a good group of expat friends.

When we moved back to the States, The Seoul of Cyprus ended.

However, travel blogging about our road trips and travels in the U.S. kept me writing. We visited places in Michigan to go freshwater camping. We toured a ton of museums and took a whole bunch of road trips in the Midwest and along the East Coast. We visited family on the West Coast and in the South. You could say we’ve lived or seen much of the four quadrants of the U.S. (Between my husband and me, we’ve lived in five different states and five countries.)

Then we decided to go on another excursion – this time on a semester abroad with college students to Budapest, Hungary. In the fall of 2016, my husband led a group of 17 college students. Both of our kids experienced international schooling, and we traveled around Central and Eastern Europe.

What We’re All About

Traveling Seouls is a culmination of expat life, restaurant reviews, museum & archaeological visits, and destination experiences with kids. If you’ve got a question about expat life in Budapest, Hungary, or Nicosia, Cyprus, send me a message. I’ll try to point you in the right direction. Check out our city guides or archives of the places we’ve traveled.

Prof (hubby), Piano Man (older kid), and Linus (younger kid) have aliases. I, on the other hand, don’t. Just so you know, we’re real people.
